2019 Kaji Aso Studio International Haiku Contest

I have not updated my web-page lately because I have been very busy with work and writing, however I am pleased to share here that in April I was thrilled to have two haiku place as Honorable Mentions in the 2019 Kaji Aso Studio International Haiku Contest. Thank you so much to all the contest judges, especially Kate Finnegan and John Ziemba.  I will include one of the poems below and encourage you to go to the Boston Haiku Society website when they post the winners to enjoy those as well.  At the award ceremony, I was happy to see again Ann Magyar (congrats on 1st place haiku!) and Marita Gargiulo (congrats on 1st place senryu!) and read other favorite poets among the honorable mentions, such as Brad Bennett, Peter Newton, Debbie Strange, Scott Mason, and Larry Rungren.  The judges of the contest observed at the award ceremony they assumed I would be much older based on one of my haiku:

it’s not a sickbed
and I’m not sick—
deep winter
